woody13's bus...

#1 by woody13 , Thu Jul 04, 2013 7:40 pm

Gonna start major work at the end of the month when I get back from Scotland. However, first job is tomorrow, resealing the inspection plate behind the fuel pump yet again.I have straightened the plate out and fitted a new gasket last time, but it refuses to seal, all I can do is try again.I'll let you know the result over the weekend...

Weld it, then cover it with chemical metal.

Just got back from Definitely Tough,Dave has done a great job on the top mounts for the rear shocks. He cut the old ones off and started from scratch making new ones.As ever he's done a great job...
So I've fitted a pair of Pro-Comp es9000's,using WSO bottom shock mounting plates and Lez's stainless U-bolts.All in all a good day,and a lot smoother ride...

I remade a whole bunch of pipes on mine a while back. Wasn't too bad a job, just had to learn how to use the flare tool!

Yeah I've gotta flare tool, pipe n fittings, but not a bender, which I need for these particular pipes cos the bends are tight. For the cost of a bender and the use I would get out of it I might as well have em made...

Copper pipe easily rolls round, bend it by fingers with the pipe inside a spring, I keep a 6mm ID expansion spring in me box with ends cut off to do bends on truck one's I make, when the bends are a bit tight.

Ive never used a bending tool in 20 years, copper pipe is a doddle to shape & you should be able to bet them looking decent

I done mine in about 4 hrs, front to rear & 2 rear axle ones. aslong as they are secure & away from where they could be damaged I dont care how they look as if someone is seeing my brakepipes then they have more things to worry about like calling an ambulance
