What frequencies is it these days FM still? I used to love the old 'Hyper-space', 'Upper' and 'Lower' "Rubber band" lol.. I can hear a distant, "CQ, CQ, CQ, DX this is base station... God I got so many birds off the old 'rig!' ha ha, great days. AM was a great vibe..

Yep, UK is still FM only. 40ch UK and 40ch EU. There is talk of us joining most of the EU and allowing the use of some AM/SSB. CB installs in these trucks can be quite subtle too:

Lets hope so!!! It used to be a fun place on AM. I think the switch was '82.. It did say on lots of NATO cbs. I used to do a lot of HAM radio on CB's, the HAM enthusiasts didn't like you if you didn't use their lingo. I still remember a bit today and still know the phonetic code.

Are there still many people on the airwaves? I know why a lot of offroaders use them, makes sense with no signal in certain areas etc. I can't remember what happened to my old one now....

I still use Am Fm and SSB for a bit of DX, more folk on SSB than FM nowadays, not wanting to hijack Andy's for sale thread though.

I thought most would use for that reason. I did enjoy talking to Italians and other euro-nations on the AM frequencies. I might have a look into it again and venture to some of the hills of lake district. Hmmmmm......

Andy their doing about £50 to £60 tops on eBay with an aerial, your radio would appear to be discontinued but it was for sale new with antenna for under £100 inc p&p

http://www.4x4cb.com/public/item.cfm?itemID=1458

So you would have appeared to have paid rather a lot for it new
