Gear box question

#1 by Jamie-G , Fri Nov 01, 2013 9:08 pm

Hello all,
I am new to the forum and to owning a L200. I recently bought a 54 plate L200 Warrior. Its covered 74k fsh ect but is due a service. The main question I have is when I change gear to second from first, it sometimes clunks. Im not sure if it feels more like me getting used to the car. Is this a common thing or early sings of the gear box on the way out?

Many thanks all

I've had two of these trucks and they were both a bit notchy from 1st to 2nd, changing the gearbox oil can help a little, but it's something you'll learn to live with

Hi Jamie,
Second to third on mine you have to change gear slowly needs respect these trucks.

Update your signature so you dont have to keep telling us what truck you got and put yourself on the map. So we can invite you to local meets.

Jamie, remember that the transfer box has it's own drain plug and filler, it is separate from the gearbox oil...

Hi Jamie, I cant remember anyone on here actually having problems with their gearbox to such an extent that it needed replacing. As the guys have mentioned above most times changing the gearbox/transfer box/diff oils is well worth it. The oils aint the cheapest but try oilman topic-threaded.php?forum=50&threaded=1&id=6391&message=97855 . have a read of this thread too as there is some handy info in here ---> Oil specifications for classic
