Advice on selling??

#1 by Brow Beaton , Sun Jan 26, 2014 8:56 am

Gents,
I'm looking to upgrade my L200 (my wifes actually) to a newer model and was wondering where best to advertise it? I have found one I want to purchase but the garage are not interested in a trade in as they don't normally deal with trucks. Is Ebay my best option? Would it sell through here?
Thanks

I'll give it a try Bez. Would like to sell it through here and I'm in no real rush to get rid of it so I'll get the info together and post an ad.
Thanks

There's no harm in putting up an ad in the for sale section here, I sold my truck on gumtree and it was gone in a day and was a free ad, likewise the L200 before that was away in a day on EBay, be prepared for half wits and test pilots on gumtree and eBay with no money, I was quite ruthless and it filtered the time wasters.
Auto trader is good for browsing but expensive to sell

LOL, thanks Greig. If I do go down the Ebay/ Gumtree path I may get in contact with you for advice on how to word the ad. I can't be bothered with half wits or chancers

Plenty of pictures buddy and be realistic with the price, accurate with any dents / scratches or issues.

This was my ad

What Greig said.

Key is the price - don't advertise it at the top end as nobody will call you.

Bloody hell Greig, I don't even understand all of that but then I'm a complete novice. It looks like a great truck though. Mine is just standard, never even been in a field. Never been used for work and never given any problems. I've only had to change the windscreen washer pump although I do have replacement bump plates to be fitted underneath once it stops raining.
So using yours and Skotls expertise, would you mind giving me a rough guide what I should advertise it for??
51 plate L200 4Life. 83k miles. FSH & reciepts (from previous owner). Belts changed around 70k. 10 months MOT. Excellent condition inside and out (one small dent about 1" in size on the tail). As I said, never been off road.

What would be a realistic starting price gents??

Thanks

Well, a quick autotrader search turned up 15 competitors;

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/search/used/...nearlynew%2Cnew

Prices range from £3,295 for an 84,000 miles 2003 to a (frankly ridiculous) £5,699 2003 with 70,000 miles.

I'd start with £2,999 for yours and be happy if you get two and a half.

Good luck!
