Lift kits vs winding up torsion bars and fitting shackles

#1 by Brembo ( Guest ) , Wed Jan 29, 2014 10:03 pm

Looking to put my truck up a bit. Own a 2010 L200 Barbarian. Options are wind up toursion bars and fit shackles to the back, or go for a lift kit (I am thinking 2"). Then I am going to upgrade the tyres.

Any advice would be appreciated on what the best / easiest option would be.

I drive a classic, but I'm sure your front suspension is coil spring not torsion bar.

On a new shape it's coils at the front so no t bars. You're really looking at an old man emu kit to do it properly but they aren't cheap.
Shackles will work fine on the back.

Hey thanks for all the feedback so far. I have signed up to join the forum, just waiting on my conformation email.

So I maybe asked the wrong question. Basically looking to raise the truck up a bit. Looks like changing the coils on the front shocks and putting shackles on the back will work to bring it up a couple inches.

Do I have any other options with the lift kits like the xpajun 3" body lift kit? Will this kit just raise the body and not provide any better ground clearance?

Cheers

The body lift will only give you clearance around the wheel arches to allow fitting of a bigger tyre. Also there is a fair amount of work involved with a 3" body lift.
