OK the head is off and what was remarkable was.....there was nothing remarkable !

What should i be looking for regarding a low compression reading on 2 pots ?

Bolts all looked good, 1 had a tiny bit of rust on, all were nice and tight.

1 pot deffo has a duff oil stem seal gone on the exhaust valve as you can clearly see it does not seal and oil is seeping down stem.

Other than that i dont really know what to look for ?

Any pointers....

On further cleaning.....The valve with the duff seal clearly doesn't seat correctly and is burned.

Also there is a small crack on 2 injector ports about 3 mil long, would/could this cause a low comp reading ? and does this mean a new head ?

Does the 4d56 head have the pre combustion chambers in the head??
Is this what you mean when u say injection port??

After a bit of reading yes it has pre combustion chambers and all of them have small cracks in !

I spoke to one of the lads at the garage and he said he had never seen a head without these cracks in and to just stick a new gasket, reground valves and it would be fine ?

Does this sound plausible ?

Would it be the same garage the fitted/ supplied the head?
