Result took it for mot today ready for the sale and it flew through. Just two advisories, are drop link and damage to the front wheel.

Truck is no longer up for sale... A big motivation for the sale was the need for a family vehicle for the wife, the only way I could see possible was to sell the truck. After a chat with grandad he's offered to give us some money for a car so the truck is staying...

Yep, told me he could see I didn't want to sell and would a few g's help... It's got me thinking about the truck though and I'm going to look for a canopy and I will look for a replacement tailgate. I think it'll be going camo green or grey before too long...

Now that I'm keeping the truck I've decided to do a bit of tidying and making it future proof. I've started with a new tailgate and the start of a colour change...

The plan is to do the whole truck. Roof and bonnet may go black. This is halfords spray camo green, but I'm going to roller on the whole truck, this was a tester to make sure it was going to work for me.

So... I've just bought this for the truck... http://r.ebay.com/qiso5D plan is to tidy it up and fit it with some drawers and a dog box to give me some more space. Unfortunately the Leer top is really difficult to get parts for so I'll have to get creative, I've looked at the hinge in pictures and believe I can repair it if not I'll be buying a hinge from the states or making something.

Yeah, I didn't want to spend a lot on it. Even if I end up replacing the rear glass with sheet metal, so that I can attach new hinges etc then it'll still work for me, and I bet I can make more than that by selling the glass... I'll try to make it all work again first though, there are a few suppliers in the US which stock spares it's just making sure they are the right sizes...

Going to Manchester later to fetch it.

Well I got almost there and I got a message saying he'd dropped the glass did I still want it... Told him I'd only give him a tenner for it. Got there and he said I could have it for nowt for coming anyway. Bonus being father in law is paying my fuel to collect my brother in-law from uni in Manchester.

Yep sheet metal rear door it is. Also need a window for the front, his ad didn't mention that was missing. Some perspex should do it. Or a metal plate... Not bad for free though.

Plywood sheet with Ali cheka plate on outside will be stiff then with the wood maybe

Seeing back into the bed would be good really... So hopefully a small piece of perspex will work. For the tail I'm thinking two skins of sheet metal with internal ribs. There is a slight curve in it so can't go too thick else I won't bend it

u could do the same for the rear and glaze it between the ribs perspex will go cloudy with a chance of meetballs quite quickly
