Lemmy's Classic - A voyage of money, spanners, and swearing.

#1 by Lemmy , Wed Apr 02, 2014 7:43 pm

So, as promised, ,y very own tinkering thread.

OK, first off I've started preparing the tub and canopy for SAR work.

As standard, and unremarkable L200 load bed...

Now cleaned with a bit of old carpet...

And now with some of my kit. You can tell from the tools and the bottles of essential fluids that I'm used to Land Rovers!

And some window tints to hide my gear...

And a shot of my pride and joy...

It is ugly, but functional. I often have work gear that needs to be kept secure.

If I were that bothered about looks then perhaps a pickup truck might not have been for me in the first place.

I'm interested to see as it would be ideal for a nap when I'm on nightshifts!

Not in your truck though! I mean I'd use my own!

I'm 6'3", and while I can't stretch out there's sufficient room to get comfy. Sheltering from the weather, or catching a few Z's after a long callout before driving home is viable.

Next mod is a coat hook so my florries aren't getting soiled down on the floor, and then some carpet to line the canopy, make it loom a bit more welcoming and add a.little bit of thermal insulation.

I've been idly considering 12v sockets myself, and an led roof light.

Not though about heating it to be honest. Any ideas?

How tall are you Matt?
If you lie corner to corner diagonally across the bed you will probably fit if you are not a lanky giant. I often kip in the tub on a weekend away
