exhaust

#1 by Andy1989 , Mon Jun 23, 2014 5:48 pm

Well.. What can I say. Got a brand new centre section from my local scrappy, which only cost me £10! But what an arse to fit. Getting the old one out was narf tight. The new one needed some "encouragement".. That's me being polite. It was an absolute arse of a job. Done now, very happy with the replacement.. Worth it. Anyone else had the pleasure of attempting this?

Most tyre and exhaust sheds do free fitting, so it's one of the few jobs I never bother with.

That sounds like my trauma! I love my angle grinder.. With out it the old exhaust would still be hanging out of the guys of the motor! It was hard, but after completing, I fairly enjoyed myself, unleashed some aggression haha!

On an exhaust related note, does anyone do a stainless exhaust for the Classic? I can my rear section is looking pretty lacy and won't have long left.

just for info, most s/s exhaust are made from 304 stainless steel which will suffer from surface rust however will last a very long time.
the stainless steal we all have in mind is 316 or A4 marine grade which is very resilient against corrosion . i have quite a lot of 316/a4 bolts+ nuts spare from a job i have completed.
so if you have use .just pay post if you would like. unfortunately the course and degree of the thread means they will not interface with automotive needs. sorry but they are none high tensile so no good for tow bars.
