Seeing expert advice 😊

#1 by Kate ( Guest ) , Sun Dec 28, 2014 8:25 am

Morning! Hope everyone has had a great christmas! I'm new to this so hope I'm asking my question in the right place!

We have an l200 with cab on the back. I'm after a bike rack to fit it, for 3 bikes, but still need to get into the cab as have 2 dogs to go in there. Not really looked into how they all work or work with the truck as I was hoping you guys might be able to give me some tips first.

Thanks very much in advance [Thanks1]

Kate

You could get one that fits on the roof on bars, or a Towbar type

Never seen one for the back of an L200....guessing a bike rack would make it hard to use the canopy and tailgate. As Nick suggests maybe a roofrack type ( but on the main cab roof not the canopy as it may not take the weight), biggest issue being getting the bikes up there, or if you have a towbar then a trailer would be an easier option.

May need a test for towing a trailer, depends on your age / licence

That one is a Thule tow bar carrier. Has been good all the times I've used it even with silly heavy dh bikes on it. It is meant to be a 3 Bike rack but due to the overhang of the rear tub I can't get a bike on the inner most mount but a spacer for the tow bar could fix that. Built in light board is a bonus and you can loosen the clamp and lower it to get into the back of the truck. There are newer ones that have slightly quicker to use clamps and that will hold 4 bikes

It's a clamp that tightens over the tow ball. It comes with a spanner but I usually keep a 19mm ratchet spanner in the truck to speed things up
