another leccy conumdrum

Well, thought it would be a good idea while doing bedroom and on-suite to fit an extractor with a timer. Seems it isn't that simple if you want to run it separate from lights!

Can Anybody out there mail a wiring diagram that will run an extractor with timer separate from the light switch?
I can run a junction box from light feed to power it, I have an isolator switch to fit and thought of fitting a fused switch on the outside of bathroom?
Can't see the point of putting lights on in middle of day just to have a d**p!!

Thanks to one and all!!

Thought I could see light at the end of the tunnel, but it was somebody with a torch bringing more work!

I dont think it should be powered off of the light circuit but it should be fitted by a part p sparky as its notifiable to building control (same as elecrric work in kitchen and any electric work to outside sheds/garages)

Paul, you can buy an extractor with a timer built in, easily fed by either the light, or a pull switch for the extractor alone..

paul you need to take a feed fom the lighing ring for the timer and another from the light for it to power on the fan will only come on when triggered by the light but the timer will allow the fan to run on for whatever length you set it and you nned a douple pole isolator out side the bathroom too

Got the fan with timer, even run wires to switches, but can't work out how to run fan independently without the light on!

On the fan you should have 3 or 4 connectors depending on the set up. 1 a permanent live 1 a switch live from the light, 1 neutral and possibly an earth. You will need to take a live from the lighting loop to a wall switch, and it return to the switch terminal on the fan. A permanent live to the timer terminal, neutral wire to the neutral terminal and if fitted earth to earth.
