EGR Removal

#1 by Jon Grimsby , Tue May 26, 2015 1:27 pm

Fairly sure I know the answer to this one but!

I removed my egr and cooler using a kit from ebay, its the same one I used on my 'old' Animal, I have been tinkering this morning and found the instructions that came with the kit, it clearly states that on the FBW trucks the EGR has to remain in place and plugged in, just to fit blanking plate between manifold and EGR.

Now I did not do this, I removed everything including the cooler which is just what I did on my previous truck, anyone else wondered about this?

The only reason to leave the cooler on is because of the water...but you would have put either new waterpipe or copper pipe on instead, hence cooler can be removed

that is probably in case it throms up the eml, it will register it as a fault if you plug it in but it will not bring up the eml man

Kind of what I was thinking then, I was getting mixed up anyway, my poor starting started when I changed the fuel filter and that was before I removed the EGR. Cheers guys.

Cleaner burning engine. No expensive egr cleaning. In the old l200 they had a cooler which went porous and could cause head gasket failure. Don't know if the new shapes have those tho.

Smother power delivery and no horrible carbon build up to block your pipes. Easy to do on the new shape using the resistor mod method rather that actually having to physically remove the egr.

@FoxyChris is the man for that, I believe there is a thread on here somewhere about that subject that he wrote?

The egr resistor mod page explains it all. Very easy to do although I'm now up to my third version now! Still testing and going well with the egr completely deactivated and no warning lights.
