Since I got back from my trip to Wales a couple of weekends ago I've had the truck cut out on me a few times, its intermittent and the only thing that is consistent is that it only does it at idle speeds. Typically it will happen as the truck comes to rest at a set of lights or whilst manouvering. The rest of the time it runs great and it doesn't always happen, it does however seem to be happening more and more. I'm going to throw a fuel and air filter on it tonight as they've not been done for a few thousand miles and see what happens, any one got any other suggestions?

Oh its and 06 new shape 4 work manual with a Ralliart module fitted.

have these got airflow mass meters ... had a car do something similiar years ago and turned out the needle inside the meter was sticking and had worn part of the track out, bent the needle and it worked fine....

howevere having said that could be barking up completely the wrong tree!

On one of my other cars this was caused by the idle control valve sticking. Exact same symptoms.

The ralliart chip is how old?

If it is the egr then just stop it from working using the resistor mod. Worth a try to see if it fixes the problems!

So its a 2006 4 work and it has a chip... and it's cutting out... take out the chip and see if, as I suspect, you'll have slightly less power, but no cut outs?

Ordered filters from Milners yesterday so hopefully they will come soon and see what happens after the filters are changed, if there's not change then i'll take off the Ralliart module. i've run my code reader a few times even a couple of times before resarting the engine after it has cut out and theres no codes...

So i didn't get time to change the filters on the weekend, going to do it after work today, but... I filled her up again on Thursday and since I have only had one incident of it cutting out and that was withn 2 miles of getting fuel. I have done 50 miles over the weekend, so I guess it was possibly the fuel I had got, we'll see how the week goes....

there was talk a long while back that some newshapes didn't run well on supermarket fuel ....... dont think there was ever anything conclusive but you never know eh ?

I generally always put supermarket fuel in, however a while back I noticed that it didn't really like ASDA fuel so i never go there, typically I use either Morrisons or Sainsburys and sometimes the local ESSO depending on convenience and price. However the tankful that seems to have given me problems came from the Tesco near my parents house in S Wales I have used it before but rare... We'll see how it goes over the next few miles but fingers crossed.

It's an urban myth that supermarket fuel is of a lower quality. Supermarkets now sell more fuel in the UK than any of the "big name" retailers and that wouldn't be happening if it was inferior - there's no way a supermarket is going to build such a massive fuel infrastructure and then risk their reputation by using duff fuel.

they all fill up from the same place so x gargae will sell the same as y garage only fuel thats different is your super unleaded or super derv as they have different octane and cetane ratings and they use different additives to achive this so they are seller specific.
used to work on the fuel tankers.
you can get dodgy fuel from a garage say a turck had a de-gas and had water in the tank as you never get it all out and they dont get flushed afterwards and you were lucky enough to get the last bit out the pump ect.

Re-fueled and changed the fuel filter and it never happened again, I can only guess it was some shit in the fuel that cleared through...

My barbarian was recalled for ecu update for idle issues and cutting out. Worth calling local dealer. Also had radiator cap changed from 0.9 to 1.1 if I remember correctly
