Brandon's K34 L200 Build Thread

#1 by K34@22PSI , Wed Jul 29, 2015 2:14 am

So one such reason i joined this forum was to seek the advice of you fellow L200 enthusiast. My truck is my pride and joy and i love it to death. However, i want more. i always wanted more. so i did a few mods to my L200. i would love for you guys to share some info so feel free to tell me what i did right, what i did wrong, and what i should do.
So there goes:

1997 K34 L200 - Base Model
Came With 4D56 N/A engine and is currently doing 167xxxKMs

MODS:

-TD04 14t Turbocharger
Dual Stage Boost Controller - 10 and 24 PSI
-Intake and Exhaust Manifolds off a Pajero
-Large Intercooler Top Mounted
Full Silicone and Aluminum Piping
-Upgraded Injector Pump with Boost Compensator
Increased Fuel Flow
-Samco Boost Lines
-K&N Cone Air Filter
Filterwears (To protect water and light dust entry)
CAI System with snorkel and vent on Bonnet
-EGR Blank
-Boost Relief Valve Blanked
-Custom Stainless Steel Exhaust
2.5" Straight Piped
-Engine Head Rebuilt Using Turbo Engine Parts
Valves and Springs
Tensioners
Lifters
-Royal Purple Oil
Liquid Moly CeraTech Additive
Amsoil Injector Cleaner Used every other full up
-Silicone Radiator Hoses
Water Temp Adapter
Additional 8" Fan on radiator
RADI-Cool Coolant
-Gauges
Sunpro Mechanical Boost Gauge
XTune Electrical Water Temp Gauge
Dragon Series Exhaust Gas Temperature (EGT) Gauge
Tachometer off Pajero

This is the basic idea... The truck is my project vehicle and I am looking to maximize performance of the 4D56.
As is, the van is very powerful and works excellent. 1st and 2nd gear pulls very hard and kicks you in your seat even on low boost.
The engine works safely as well. 85 degrees Celsius Water Temperature and 550 degrees Celsius EGT under normal driving conditions.
So constructive criticism is welcome. Please let me know what you guys think and if anyone has any idea for more performance mods, please let me know!!!
Thanks dudes!

Sounds brilliant! I'm pretty sure you'll get a lot of people saying that the 4d56 is too fragile for mods and increased performance but it sounds like you have got it well thought out. There is also someone on the pajero owners club who has upped the power on the 4d56. Shows that it can be done but most of us aren't brave to try it!

Good lad, as Rob says, a good few of us here have burst at least one 4d56 head, and as a result the heat destroyed the bottom end too, but fair play to you for what sounds like a fine effort! However we needs photos -otherwise its not real!

Ik people tend to be a bit timid towards modding it... but where i am from, there are a few of us who actually enjoying interfering! so come on guys! im all ears to more ideas! i love the torque from the 4D56... My vehicle had proven itself well against many other pickups so i am very proud of mitisubishi on the whole for this feat

100-110bhp if everything is in tip top shape and original mitsi parts. The K34 is not a hugely powerful beast but I love mine(even if it is b*ll*cksed)

I'm guessing 130. Just to be different.

So what's the plan then. Are you wanting a faster truck of just more power??

I am looking to maximize performance of the engine as much as i can while ensuring the safety and reliability of the engine. Thats why im open to all ideas anyone may have. I am wild enough to try almost everything... Gonna have my injectors cleaned and run some VP racing Cetanium. My injector pump flow can be increased as well.... so i may try my hand with approximately 25 psi for high boost.... would do 2 runs to see the difference between stock boost vs high boost.

There is/was a guy running a 2.5l pajero at ridiculous(200+hp) over here. All fine but he said the head gasket became a service item!

were 16" rims standard in Trinidad? Europe, Japand and Oz had 245 75 15s as standard acording to the sticker(in japanese) on my door pillar.

Seems like they chucked on whatever they felt like and had many many stickers made up to boot. My door pillar sticker tells me original size of 265/70/15.
