Easy enough done, take off intercooler, filter back pass side on fire wall. Disconnect wire below filter, loosen clips and remove pipes, unscrew and be careful, it'll be full of fuel.
Remove filter from the bottom of old filter, I know, sounded odd. Clamp/vice metal lip of main body and unscrew plastic bit.
put this plastic bit on new filter, put new seal ring on top of new filter and wet with NEW fuel. Fill filter with NEW fuel, not the fuel from old one.
screw back in, replace everything, including wire below. Pump the priming button on top until firm and then you are done yo

Why take intercooler off???never had to do it before, due service soon and intercooler won't be coming off.
People also suggest filling filter with neat injector cleaner to give them a good blast.
Only put it on hand tight, cos next time it will be a twat to get off.

Weird, my filter sits under the cooler and has to come off to get in at it. Either I've fat ass hands or I'm missing a trick

I can see how removing the intercooler would make access easier, but at the same time,I can't really see why you would need to..I don't have big hands but access is dead easy for me.

I've got air horns blocking mine, The secret is to drop the fuel filter right down to below the wheel arch then bring it up to one side should come out fine regardless of the intercooler etc being in the way.

to get better access to my filter, I bent the bracket out of the way (the one with the loom cable tied to it in this picture). Unplug the wires from the bottom and remove it with the drain thingy still attached so you dont spill diesel everywhere
I also half fill mine with forte diesel injector cleaner (after screwing the drain thingy back in from the old filter)then top up with diesel when I change mine.Smear a little diesel round the top of the rubber seal to help it seal when you put it back on. Pump the primer till it's hard then start her up ........ then a few good hard revs (italian tune up) will chuck all sorts of black stuff out the exhaust

If you release the pressure in the can by opening the bleed screw slightly, you will unscrew it by hand..they can be tight but it generally works

I think that shows 2 things..1, it's time for the filter change and,2, it proves the filter was doing its job..
