Anyone had issues with a pram shape starting before ? Sounds like the solenoid drops out after the first turn of the barrel then won't engage again but the barrel keeps spinning just won't turn the motor over. Supposed to be selling the truck tomorrow so this is very very cap timing any help appreciated greatly

You could try hitting the starter with a rubber hammer, it might just be carbon deposits clogging the starter.

Yeah tried that last night hard to get a clean hit due to the egr cooler but it's the fact it starts to turn then drops and free spins 😕

It could be the drive off the starter has lost a tooth,or the fly wheel has lost a tooth, try rocking the truck in gear to move the flywheel and try again or bump start and stop and try the starter, it prob is the starter goosed.

only problem I've had with the starter on my classic has turned out to be the battery on it's last legs ........ might be worth checking

I had probs with my starter a bigger hammer fixed it 3rd size hammer

I tried a big hammer onceit hurt
