Hi all
I'm phil and have just signed up and waiting for approval

I am currently looking at buying an l200 animal (55 plate) and this will be my 1st (4wd) so will be after lots of advice
I will introduce myself probably when I get approval

Now the animal I'm looking at has currently got 130,000 miles with a rock mountain cover and full leather and the owner is asking £4500
Is this a good price?
What should I be looking out for apart from the obvious service history and cambelt change
When should the cambelt be changed?
I hear something about bottom pulley having play Is this a common issue ? I have no mechanical knowledge
Do this come with diff locks?
I will be using it mainly on weekends and will potentially be towing aswell (upto a large caravan) and maybe a large for williams trailer
Are these good for towing? What are they like in the mud?
Please if someone can give me as much info on these And what to look out for I would appreciate it

The Animal has an LSD so it wont have rear Diff Lock.
Animal has a power upgrade chip as standard so should be 143bhp, should be fine for towing.
Bottom pulleys can de laminate, look to see if its wobbly when running.

My 55 plate Animal has diff lock .... I think the later ones all had difflock
Never had issues towing a large horsebox even pulled out a long wheelbase transit from mud that was down to its rear axle.
Cambelt is every 54000 miles but as Nick says the bottom pulley can delaminate so need to look for wobble on that pulley
Front brake caliper sliding pins are known to create sticking front brakes. Do you know what it was used for before, just check rear leaf springs.
£4500 I think is probably slightly overpriced..

What would be a reasonable price for it then?
Sorry as I know nothing about these but do want a pickup as I do go on grass / muddy field a lot and tow stuff ( garden machinery / tools)
So really the cambelt should of just been changed recently then
It has not Untill September with no advisories but owner said he will put fresh on If required

I think I would try and get it for 3750-4000. It's ten years old now...

Electric windows can get stuck open due to an anti trap device , but a good liberal spray of silicone spray in the runners soon sorts that!
