franks first non VAG

#1 by frank-pearson , Wed Jan 06, 2016 9:02 am

Morning lads,

Intro'd myself and the truck the other day, now Christmas is out the way I want to modify something.... so I thought I'd put a thread up

This is my 29th car and my first non VAG so there will be some stupid questions!!

Immediate plans are a 2 inch lift, spacers, decat and leather interior. Then it'll be bull/roll bars, remap and some other bits

It's had a few bits done already. Snorkel, new turbo a few other bits but what people seemed to be interested in was the axel breathers (I know as little as anyone about this) but I have pics!!!! It's piped up to the air filter

Some of my old cars, just because I miss them lol

Mk1 g60 stripped out on wheels that where far to big

Savagely high spec bora

There's loads more but this isn't a vag forum lol. So on with the truck

Some of the pics where chopped off a bit. The breather pipes are piped into the air filter

Any recommendations on what de cat pip to go for? Seen plenty on ebay but they're completely straight, had a look at the one on the truck and it looks like it's got quite a bend on it???

Hayling Island, just outside portsmouth

It's a mk3? Properly new to these, don't even know if it's new or old shape.... how do I tell

Looking over the truck though it's pretty simply pit together which is handy. Ordering in a few parts this Friday and having a day of it next weekend I think

2nd pic in the first post, the others I took where too big to post, I'll sort that later

Here's a dense question, if water gets down the Snorkel somehow is it game over or can it drain? Just curious

It's a 1.8 8v supercharged lump out a mk2 golf was just shy of 220 hp. The shell only had 35k on it not a spot of rust anywhere. Regret selling it

The 1.6 mk1 gti was enough of a handful, loads of fun

Haven't done much to the truck, have put the de cat pipe on which made a nice difference. Turbo definitely seem happier. The 13 year old bolts where an adventure so I just got the grinder out and cut them....
Bought a can of bolt release stuff for the job, drove over it and it exploded. Gutted!!

Need to order my lift kit, wind deflectprs are on the way and I'm eying up some porsche seats for the front. Shouldn't imagine wiring them in would be to hard, anyone done it before?

On the outer side on the base of the seat. Assume it just needs a + and a -

Fitted some heko wind deflectors yesterday, went on easily as usual although the front passage was a pretty shody fit. Had to trim the base of it. All done now
No pics because my photobucket thing is playing up. I'll sort some later. Any advice of 2 inch lift kits? (What one to get) That's next on the list with a boost gauge
New seats are on hold, mainly because I can't find anything I like that's reasonably priced and local
