Pram transfer box

#1 by mikeb1986 , Wed Mar 30, 2016 3:51 pm

I have a 4work pram and I'd like to be able to get it into 2wd low box for manoeuvering trailers etc. easily

I assume there is some sort of electronic equivelant of a free wheeling hub fitted that activates when the transfer lever moves into 4h, and deactivates when put in 2wd. I know similar systems exist with a switch on the circuit so the hubs can be locked/unlocked, so 4low can be selected but without the front wheels locked in, to give 2low. Has anyibw done it on l200 orcan give me some detail where the solenoids is/are so I can work something out for it

Thanks

This will be the same set up as a classic. 4 work = easy select

Is that to say they can use the same free wheeling hub? Or that the transfer lever is the same?

It has the classic type transfer lever (2h, 4h, 2l). And I would prefer to keep the locking system electronic, but controlled manually.

I have seen similar systems on older Fords where the locking mechanism is a solenoid on the front diff. My mate in the same boat as me put a wire to it with a an electric window switch that pressed one way opened the solenoid, and pressed the other closed it. I wondered if our L200s are set up similarly or not, and if they are, is it that simple or is there more electronic trickery involved on them
I'm bringing it into work for service next week and will have a good look then while its on ramps, but would prefer to have some idea what I'm getting into before I start
