Lift suspension

#1 by Deano1980 ( Guest ) , Sat Aug 27, 2016 9:17 pm

Hi. I've just bought some 35 wheels and tyres for my 05 l200 I need advice how to lift the front end enough. I've got a 1" body lift kit also I've put heavy duty leaf springs on back. So need to know what to do at the front.

@123hotchef you will need at least 4 inch lift and 35s arnt such a good idea imho. Torson bars wound up mud guards removed some inner wing mods with a hammer some bumper trimming ive probably missed something ah gear levers extended

L200's don't take too well to 35's.Too much pressure on the steering components. And that's just on road, off road you're asking for a world of pain.Go 2" body lift and 2" suspension you'll get 33's or 285's on with a bit of trimming. Or go 4" body lift and leave the suspension alone.

IMO, I wouldn't put 35" on the truck, if you intend to off road be prepared to have to do a repair whilst off road, a week ago someone tore off the upper and lower ball joint, bent track rod,and damaged the drive shaft and casing.
The cause was in part due to 35" tyres. These trucks don't have any steering or wheel carrying upgrades,so causes extreme stress on the whole front end.

Hi again. Ok so I appreciate its a big job to put 35's on. Just for the record it's not for off reading. It's just my own general use. So next question is. Where could I get the lift done to accommodate the 35's I've bought. I'm so busy and also clueless to tackle this type of modification. I'm in East Yorkshire so need someone local to me preferably. Failing that I've heard 33's are easier to fit. So if worst comes to worst then does anyone reckon I could swap my modular wheels and 35 tyres for modular with 33's? Thanks Dean

Also check with your insurance that they will cover you with the upgrade.

Ok. At this rate they won't be going on. I thought there would be company's who could do these mods for me. Any leads will be appreciated.

Sounds like you need a workshop meet. not to many garages equipped with the knowledge or know how. and it would take them an age to do the work and cost a fortune, so would be best to do the work yourself with a little help from members who can advise and talk you through your upgrades. Not the smallest job to undertake but you will have fun doing it.

Would 33's fit easier? How much lift would I need for this mod? I have no doubt I could do it but working 6 days a week I don't have the free time.

There's 4x Micky thompsons and 1x BF goodridge. I don't no how to put pics on here. Sorry. I just bought them yesterday. I jumped in with both feet. I saw pics of big wheels on l200's and wanted to do the same. Never new I would be opening a can of worms. I did t think it would be so difficult to pay someone to do the work for me. How wrong was I.

Yes I think thats called not having a plan. 33s will still require the mods but not so extreme. if you have dropbox photobucket or facebook you can put the pics on there and post the link here

You say your truck is an 05,so you're gonna have to use 16" wheels so you'll looking at 285 75 16.Depending on design of tread and the manufacturer these tyres stand between 32.5 and 33.5" high.

My l200 is a 55 plate warrior. I'm sure the wheels I bought stupidly are 15' modular rims. God knows. It's all giving me a headache. I just want to pay someone to mod my truck or swap wheels with me then mod my truck!! Either or. Lol. If I can't get this done my dreams are shattered. N I'll just stick to my Audi and my son will just have to get his own mini monster truck when he's older ha ha.
