Flickering lights?

#1 by robert3040 , Sat Oct 15, 2016 11:51 am

Was driving early doors this morning and noticed all lights seemed to have a very slight flicker!
New alternator fitted in August and voltage sitting at 14.2.Rev counter normal and engine seems fine.Peeing down at the mo so I've not checked any wiring connections,Earth ,Battery, alternator etc.I will test the alternator for output current later.
Any ideas?

Got battery tested this morn, reading 38% apparently 50/60 is a. good battery, garage think it is just due to short journeys not getting battery fully charged up . I will charge it up and c how things go for the moment.Decided just to order 850 cold crank battery from Euro parts £80 now on it's way.Bosch 4s4334 4year Gt.for peace of mind

Just checked old posts and found this so hopefully it's the battery (4 gt) save me taking out the B of a thing called an alternator 😖
G/t up in January so won a watch.
Will check belts n bolts in the morning, thanks

Pulsating is usually due to the electrics surging, batteries deliver a constant supply, an alternator does the same but has a voltage control module I know its a recent alternator but it maybe the charging module in the alternator is faulty/breaking down.

Cheers for the info .This is my 2 nd alternator this year. I had a quick check on the battery and its reading 12.54. With engine running its sitting at 14.57
In the morning I will do proper tests on the alternator and see what readings I get.
