Cost of road tax question 2009 L200

#1 by TerryT ( Guest ) , Sat Dec 17, 2016 6:34 pm

Hello fellow L200 owners,

I recently purchased a 2009 registered L200 4WRK, 2.5 Diesel, D CAB, manual box.
I wrote to Mitsubishi to confirm the vehicle emissions and they confirmed EURO 4.

Please could you guys confirm that I am paying the correct road tax £230 per annum.
Having read the light goods taxation classes I can't help feeling I should be paying only £140.

The taxation rules say "Euro 4 must be registered between Jan 2003 - Dec 2006
" EURO 5 emissions registered between Jan 2009 - Dec 2010.

I wrote to DVLA querying this and they say I paid the correct taxation amount £230.
Because my vehicle is EURO 4 emissions and registered in 2009.

I am confused as to why I don't qualify for the reduced rate of duty as my emissions
are low and vehicle is Diesel.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
Terry.

there were some L200s that pay the lower tax but they were only the ones registered in 2006 (56 plates) , all the later (and earlier including mine) variants are 230 per year
not entirely sure why the remaining euro4 trucks then went up in taxation duty from 2007 onwards but I suspect it is something to do with the government

Hi Nick,

Mine is the new shape. More rounded than the old squared looking ones.
Cheers.
Terry.

Well thank you guys for taking the time to reply to me.
This makes little sense to me as taxation is supposed to be emissions dependent,
but we are all aware of the governments methods of ripping us off. Crazy.

Loving the pickup by the way. Great forum too. Going to register.

Thanks again.
Terry

£230 a year isn't that bad really for a 4x4.
As a Range Rover is about £500 a year

My 2013 warrior would be 400 quid if down to emissions so 230 is ok ! By me....
