Drivers door handle removal.

#1 by Holmezy , Sun Jan 08, 2017 1:07 pm

Hi,
this is a follow on from my previous post!! I'm still struggling to see how to remove the drivers door handle assembly so I can get at, and change, the defunkt lock? Door card is off, and the torx bolt in the door shut is loose but still no joy? Do I need to remove the window runner and then anything else or am I just missing something really simple?

Thanks in advance!!!

Sorry, I forgot to mention, its a 2009 model. My previous 1998 L200 door handle was dead simple to get at and remove, 2 10mm bolts and its off, but this one has me baffled!!

Nope,,,,,no one seems to know! Even tried ringing a Mitzy dealer who was a bit vague and "claimed" to not know? But kindly offered to fit me a new drivers door lock for £300. Not given up yet,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,someone out there must know! If I ever find out, I'll share the knowledge!!!!

UPDATE................

Sorted it! Handle and door lock now off (although I didnt have to remove the handle as it happens).Click off the plastic cover on the handle. Removed the actuator rod from the handle. Theres also a 10mm bolt that holds a rod that attaches to the back of the lock that needs to be removed. Undo the captive torx bolt in the door side that secures the lock. Then I had to undo the 3 torx that held the latch in position, also the 10mm bolt that holds the window runner in place. This then allows access to a 10mm bolt that holds a plate on the back of the lock which then allows the lock to pop out of the handle.
Lock now degunked and is soaking in oil,,,,,,seems to work ok.
Then it started raining........
Assembly will be opposite to removal,,,but thats tomorrows job!
