Billy recommended running a catch tank as part of my engine mods. Then Raj said the new triton guys use one with release valves as the dip sticks can blow out. just wondering whether one with a breather would do the same thing?

Like Werbung: this one.?

Yoda not sure mate, i asked them over there if a cheap one with a breather would work and they just said no as they would rather spend the extra money on something proven, and then recently someone threw a spanner in the works and said a mod needed to be made to the provent for it to be better as it does have the possibility to clog up and cause pressure issues

okey doke. I've joined newtriton.net now. I know some time ago you suggested I should join. You keep coming back with good info so I've decided I should be there even if I'm not running a new shape.

I am mate, don`t expect lively banter but check the sheds , man! they have sooooo much more opportunity to buy bits to put on than we get access to - but as my eldest says - they need to cos they won`t walk anywhere! cars all park -on the beach, in the wood

All Oval Circuit race cars run oil catch tanks, normally min of 1ltr.
We had them in Rookirods and Hotfords.
Ali tanks cost @ £30 - £50.

Why do they need to be specific cans? Doesn't the rocker cover just vent to atmosphere anyway?

I've had cans on my bikes (coke can cable tied to the frame lol) with oil breather and carb breathers and never had a problem until it filled up from too many stoppies lol. My friends 460hp Toyota just vents straight inta a can the same as the one in the OP, just smaller...

The engine vents the oily gasses into the air intake Twed. I've just read up over there and their issue appears to be that they cannot fit a 'normal' catch tank that will vent into the bay. It's illegal for them. So they have to vent back into the crank case -which is where the more expensive provent version comes in. And where they are saying they are getting crank pressure increase when the filter soaks with oil. they've modded the filter to solve that -seemingly, but the problem seems to come from the fact that they can't run a standard catch tank with a breather or release valve.

It gives more detail, its the first thread i read on the catch tank, the one your reading is quite a new one compared to that one, its got loads more detail. also shows them using some standard catch tanks
