Rear exhaust and pitman arm

#1 by robl200 , Sat Oct 29, 2011 7:31 pm

Fitted a new rear section to the exhaust after the last one disappeared between dundee and Glasgow last year. Also did the pitman arm. What a nightmare that was! Out came the fire and the angle grinder!

My mate done my pitman arm on the old truck he had to use heat and a hub puller of some description, it was a pig to get off

Mine snapped and had to cut in nearly through with the angle grinder and a few smacks with the chisel and mash hammer to get it off

Yeah that's pretty much what I had to do. Ground a slit in it almost to the splines then hit it until it cracked. Was expecting a fight with it having been there for 10 years lol

when i have taken pit arms off in the past i found it a right pig but then was shown a good tip it needs two people and two lump hammers one person hits the pit man arm down and the other hits it side ways at the same time. its worked every time with out heat or a grinder
