Not fecking happy.

Secondhand sump is porous & leaking oil. Misfire & smoke still on start up. Guess I'm gonna have to get a new engine. Might swap the pistons over as mine have new rings & big end shells but think another head would be a good idea. Oh and a new sump. However I can use everything else of mine, waterpump & belts etc as they are all new. Just need time to do it. Annoying thing is I have just had a week off & back tomorrow.

So all the work done the other week for nowt.

Gonna start by stripping & cleaning the other parts I have then once that's done out with my engine. Swap bits over then drop back in.

Your at the point that I was with my X plate Animal, it was looking a bit tatty inside and out, needed a bit of welding, possibly a crank and loads of other wee niggly things, I was torn because I'd already spent a fair bit of time and money on it, but if I kept it I was going to have to spend a fair bit more and still end up with a rough truck.
As you know I called it a day with the Animal and got the Warrior and never regretted that for a minute, and it was a far better machine in every way.
The ironic thing is that when I last checked, the rough old Animal is still taxed and MOT'd and my Warrior has been lying untaxed somewhere since September, although it's showing as MOT'd until June.

Maybe time to take the faithful hound for that last walk and put your time effort and dosh into something else perhaps a bit newer.

Nah lol. I've not actually spent that much on it over the last 8 years. It's done me well so I will keep it going as long as I can.

Just catching up with this thread. I've been at the same point with mine a few times. Think I'll put money in it once more and try part with it as a fully working truck. Could all change in the next few weeks again though!

Great day today with me & @marcosuk at Penicuik.

Stripped the cylinder head off & decided to replace the balance shaft seals & reseal the cover on the nearside of the engine block. Removed the alloy plate that the fuel pump is fitted to so I could change the gasket on that as well. Refitted a balance shaft belt to see if there really is a difference & I would say there is but to the untrained you wouldn't notice it.

So spare head is now on & initial road test looks good.

I also fitted a new sump on Thursday night.

So all being good I will be fixing the front panel next as its totally rotten & hopefully be fitting a winch tray at the same time before converting it into a winch bumper.

And again a massive thanks to Marc for all the help today
