silicone hoses

#1 by treeboa , Wed Aug 29, 2012 2:11 pm

ordered some silicone hoses to replace the vac pipes, arrived this morn, because im not feeling too good a mates doing them for me, now first thing, ive read that 4mm is the size needed, ITS NOT, on the fbw pipes that come across the rocker cover you need 3mm, trouble is you will then struggle a bit on the sensors and solenoids as they are 4mm

right silicone hoses have been bandied about quite a bit on the oc and here, have a shuftie at this site

hose and fittings site

they do near everything you can think of in silicone and also alloy pipe fittings and air ducting, seem a lot cheaper than i have seen elsewere

I just bought an ASH 102mm to 76mm 45 degree reducer for my apollo, should be here tomorrow, got it off ebay though and it was a few quid cheaper than the direct site link
I shall let you all know how the quality is

I could use a silicone replacement for the hose that came with the snorkel, I think I saw somebody here got one but can find the thread.
So I wonder what size and shape it has to be?

Yup, the adaptor cracked when tightening the clip the other night, so the new hose will do away with it

Danne the snorkel intake is 76 mm and I measured my old standard air box and the pipe coming from it is 65mm wide this is not a popular width so id go for a 76mm to 67 reducer like this

I'm not sure how long it would have to be, that ebay pipe is 125 mm long I'm not sure if that's enough, I also don't know if you need a straight pipe or if it needs to bend a little
