I've mulled over four years replacing the 'cat'. I've read up on forums and Googled how much this cheap modification is and how performance although minimal does make a noticeable difference. To be honest I haven't got the tools and if I did I just don't have the time.

I finally got it done today. Its a non branded stainless steel tube a friend/mechanic uses for many diesels, usually Defenders. Any noticeable difference? Yep, minimal but noticeable; smoother and a little more thrust. I like it and it was worth it. £35.00 for everything including the pipe.

When I bought my L200 just over for years ago it came from Glasgow, it was 'ginger' with rust underneath. (Sorry to any Scots, couldn't resist) I managed to chip away most of it as well as wire brush it back to good health. Just never got around to the 'Waxoyling!' Had i done so I would have saved myself a healthy wad of cash for fully replaced brake lines and other wishbone and brake related issues... rust comes back pretty quick.

So today it had a compressed air and steam treatment and then 'Waxoyled'. 5ltrs later we both think another 5ltrs would do it good. The intention was to do that myself but again I don't have the tools. I know regular hand held sprayers are suffice but to remove the crust and get it in places that cannot reach £45.00 for that job (I bought Waxoyl, £28.00 though I should've let mate/mechanic get it for £22.00, live and learn) IMO is money well worth spending.

I will be looking at blanking off the EGR valve next. Which would anyone recommend for a '03 L200??

Oh, another mod!!!! I will have to update another thread with pics, just not had the time yet. The Armadillo rolltop spring snapped. Armadillo do a replacement spring for £185.00, yeah WTF..its a spring and they don't last 5 years! Its been welded and it looks solid. I'll see how it goes once re-fitted. I am convinced it will work!! The lock has almost gone too, I have another fix lined up for that too, well at least a back up for now but with the cold coming soon I don't hold much hope for the lock.

The EGR is down to you guys!? What are the preferred kits or are you all making your own?

Admittedly things run kinda slow with the car, too many expensive interests that pre-occupy my £££££'s. I am the original plate-spinner, no time to sleep etc.

I've just turned 44 and I thought I was old...there's always someone to take the burden. Thanks 'Posters!

EGR removal kits on Ebay for around a tenner, one seller does them with gaskets etc, just hunt that one out.
Search egr blanking kits.
Then search mitsubishi from there and you will have them
