EGR finally removed!!

#1 by janso , Sun Oct 21, 2012 3:03 pm

Not a bad job just fiddly really. Spent time locating those bottom bolts and taking off the pipe round the rear, pain in the ass, but no dramas in all.

Thanks to Ock for some great step by step pics to aid removal. Didn't seal it in the end thou, reused the existing gaskets as they were shiny and clean.

Thank you! Just went for a spin up the road; no dramas, no leaks... Definite difference in pulling power. Lets hope the mpg increases as this is the priority

Dither ye not, Basil will vouch for that, a very straight forward job that can save you a world of pain and give a little more piece of mind

We'll hold you to that now mate... I'm praying for a sheared bolt to hear those tears!! They don't seem that weak, just don't over tighten them; I was dead cautious as not wanting the same

when you have a couple shackle bolts part company and you break bones on the towbar you learn to understand power/angles/ballistics and how you can use 200 swearwords without drawing breath

snapped a shackle pin on a trawler cable with a three foot bar missed my ankle by less than an inch and left a gouge in the deck hatch - if i'd hit my ankle i dread to think if i'd have been able to walk properly again so i can imagine how easy you broke those bones - it's a nasty beast when something gives way unexpectedly.

this particular little job is now complete - never even sacrificed any blood or skin - which for me - is miraculous.

I just fired a copper pipe to re-route the coolant - local motor factor didn't have the right size of water pipe jobs done though no leaks or seepage.

hats off to W E L L S P A C E D O U T - egr kit is freaking right spot on AND its a bargain!!

cheers

Malky

Well done you, this job also has the bonus of making it easier to replace your turbo when it's fooked !

I noticed that. loadsa space over that side of the engine now - considering fitting an apollo kit to create even more space I may then return to my dual battery Idea as I intend on fitting a rear winch tray and bumper, and that means more off roading and more winch use.

cheers

Malky
