#1 by 4life-extreme , Thu Apr 12, 2018 8:02 pm

Looking for some advice daughter was involved in a serious accident and as a result the car has been written off. Because the car is on finance the insurance company are taking off 33% and they have to get the rest from salvage, How do you go about selling it for salvage ?

Thanks in advance Dave

Normally the insurance company sell it as salvage . I believe copart is one of the many salvage yards . I think @Stuarty1981 has something to do with copart and may be able to help

They are giving part of the value then we get the car back to sell as salvage that's the bit i don't quite understand, seems we have to dispose of the car?

That is unusual... Normally you have to buy the car back. I am guessing yoy can sell where ever you like then? Or can you refuse that offer?

Basically it saves the Insurance company money and sending Co parts or similar to collect it.
Just advertise it as spare or repair and sell it, as long as the V5 is completed and sent off you are covered.
