Dash brake light won't go off....

#1 by Nik Rite , Sun Sep 16, 2018 7:05 pm

Mmmm....just out of the blue my red dash brake light came on. No flickers as if the pads were on the way out, checked the handbrake switch...aok also. No brake squeals. Brakes feel fine. The fluid level in the reservoir nearly full. it doesn't flicker going around corners...any ideas where to start looking??? Ta as ever Nik

usually it's on or off, if you've done heavy braking recently, that might have taken you over the edge with room to spare.

Its always nice to find the answer....I started to look closely at the brake fluid reservoir and the brake vacuum boost area only to find the wire from the reservoir to the wiring loom disconnected. It looked very deliberately disconnected. On closer looking someone had put a wire link in the plastic junction box to fool the red light all was well !! Rather than sort the problem which is the brake reservoir! Some people !!!! Ta for the suggestions Nik
