The beginning of problems??? Spurty dipstick...

#1 by Nik Rite , Wed Feb 06, 2019 10:01 pm

As above.... k74 145000 miles Doesn't miss a beat ( most of the time !)Uses 1 litre oil per 5000 miles. The temp gauge stays rock steady. The exhaust is very clear, passed the mot easy. As you know i'm just setting the valve clearances and have cleaned and checked the rocker cover breather pipe which is completely clear. Recently when giving the truck on a good run the dip stick is out and traces of oil splatter . Thoughts? beginning of problems ahead? Would i get away with less oil in (6.5 litres) and drive it more gently or best to nip it in the bud.... Nik

might that be blocked and stopping the c.case breathing and hence pressurising the sump ? If I blow down that tube should it be free?
