Tailgate

#1 by Maddogtrev , Mon Jul 01, 2019 5:01 pm

Hi I’m new to this forum so hope this is the right place for this I have a 2005 L200 and would like to fit an electric tailgate lock have searched the forum and found a link to Eagle power lock but its only for 2006 - 2015 I'm presuming that's the pram shape
so I phoned Eagle 4x4 and they confirmed that it won't fit my 2005 model So can I get an electronic lock kit for my 2005 tailgate if so which one do I need or has anyone made one if not what other ways have people used to lock the tailgate as I will be keeping some tools for work in the back and would like it to lock.
Sorry if this is in the wrong place but I am new!!!

Thank you Krutly
so did you just modify the brackets to fit your classic or dose it just fit ok ?
your how to looks fairly straight forward I'm torn between buying the kit or making my own I'll probably have a look inside the tailgate and see what I'm dealing with I like the idea of making one really

I pretty much just removed the foam pad thingy that it comes with and all the holes lined up with existing bolts and stuff

all the photos and how I did it are here ----------> How to :- fit a tailgate central locking mechanism

a link to the eagle website that sells them is in the thread somewhere too

if I were doing it again I'd try getting a cheap actuator off ebay and making a bracket of some sort before I coughed up 50 odd quid though

Hi Krutly
I'm thinking I might go down that rout myself I'll know better when I've had a look in the tailgate
