L200 Noob from the NorthWest

#1 by mikeyw64 , Wed Aug 14, 2019 7:25 pm

Just stopping with a brief intro.

Picked up a 2013 BaaBaa (auto) at the weekend as a replacement for my Postman Pat van. 1 Owner from new & only 10k miles (yes that's ten not one hundred with a one missing) with all paperwork & service history including original order form.

Primary usage for me will be as a K9 transporter including when we all go on holidays. Idea is to split the rear 60/40 . Dogs one side, luggage the other. May also pick up a bike trailer so I can take my motorbike with us (bit awkward with the dogs on the bike lol)

Got a Kenwood DMX7017DABS head unit plus a Kenwood DRV-N250 dashcam (that links to the head unit) on order to replace the OEM supplied Kenwood unit (how annoying is that in that BT is hands free only and no audio streaming).

First farkle down, switch the catch on the load bed window around so it can be opened from inside the cab, save crawling through the load bed

nice lookin' truck fella

check if the belts have been done coz although it's low mileage they should be replaced ever 5 (or may be 6 I cant remember) years

keep an eye on the oil levels too as you have a DPF , if it reaches the X on the dipstick then change the oil

No, belts haven't been done (and the trader I bought her from did also recommend that as well).

I know that I can probably get it done cheaper by going independent but there's a bit of me thinking " I'm going to be a relatively low mileage user myself and given the pile of paperwork and history I have with here it would almost be mice to keep it up with dealer stamps & receipts"

From where I am it would either be "Browns of Preston" or "Gallaghers of Warrington" , anybody got any experience of either of these?

Velcome in.
Quote Quote Quote. Dealers are good but pricey.
Google your choices - Gallaghers have a chequered review history, but Brown's have a lot of plus reviews.

And about 300 miles less on the tyres from the "test drive"?

I'll keep banging on about this until it's in China. When I bought mine, I changed the full belt kit and found that the old belt was probably under 200 miles life or less on it.. Don't risk the 4 figure engine + swap price.
