EGR / bonnet scoop

#1 by krutly , Sun Nov 27, 2011 9:07 pm

The sun was shining today and I had time to do some mods. I removed my EGR thanks to Gary's excellent pics in the gallery.(cheers bud).
pretty much straight forward with one of the £9 kits from ebay I'm sure its running a bit better now

next came the rear window guard/thing that I won on ebay last week. I think it cost me more in broken drill bits trying to fix it to the roll bars than it cost to buy it . It was advertised as being for a new shape and "would not fit the older shape classic" that didn't put me off though, it just meant the last person didn't try hard enough can't have too many shiny bits

after that came the second bonnet scoop. It seemed very strange drilling holes in a perfectly good bonnet.I marked it up in a slightly different way to most , I think. I carefully measured it so it was level against the other one then got a rubber mallet and gave it a whack hey presto ! just needed to drill where the little dents/scratches were. cut out some soundproofing,Drilled 2 vent holes , et viola ! I do have to take it back off at some point as I didn't fit the rubber back round it, but I figured I'd do that when I paint it the right colour. I did spray it red but its not the same red as the truck, think mine is r59 palma red?

And lastly I fitted some HUGE rear light guards that I got a while back. they are massive and totally change the look of the truck from the back. they are the ones that have a sort of 1 inch chrome tube around most of it and bars through the middle. I'll get some pics posted when I can.

so with the filters and oil changed earlier last week , the truck's had a bit of a birthday

Still got new extended hoses to fit, shackles to fit(cheers Lez),rear polly bushes and 2inch lift kit but that can wait for another day eh

oh and some front fog lights and surrounds aswell

Can't take all the credit myself as I enlisted 2 fine gentlemen known as "ranger dave" and "the tall boy" both great at problem solvin and thinking out of the box and any other catchwords you can think of. But what they are really good at is ..................... DRINKING

anyway, just felt like telling you all that Ive had a good day

I'll do my best but it wont be easy to convert "ranger dave" as his name suggests

No conversion needed, someone like that will have a wealth of knowledge for the members, worth asking.
