Powder coating wont last long on a skid plate I reckon, use hammerite or something more durable.

Stainless is a possible, but I don't know whether my man can bend stainless as it's much harder, I will check, if not we'll have to approach another manufacturer and see what price they become.... I stood the price of these ( they are already paid for). Not sure if I would have the shrapnel for 10 Stainless so if they are wanted in Stainless I would have to get the dosh first.. ( also I'll check the quantity for a minimum order ( relevant to sheet size)..... Easier to do it in whole sheets, as no left over or waste..

Lez,

Have you thought about doing other covers for under the truck?

Just thinking because I spend so much time out of the UK, they could either borrow the truck or the other plates.

Lez, I would love stainless but it really is all down to pennies ......... and I (as would I'm sure many others) would be more than happy with the one's you already have measured/cut/bent/drilled/bought etc. This I believe is a textbook example of "how to" do a group buy on any given product ..... find out what it is you want ..... approach suppliers or manufacturers ...... get one made ...... get a price for future ones ....... stick a post on the forum and see who is interested. top work sir

Just in the throes of the rear (of two) plates at the mo, but I have a chassi which is being measured as we speak ( dont get to it often) for that purpose, I have a 'Metal Micky' friend who does my shacklez, he's done the front plates and said he can so the rears ( subject to deffo specs ), we have discussed making further guards too and we just have to formulate the drawings. ( we have this issue that I scribble he complains .... I draw.. he complains that I am not a techie and makes them from the scribbles as all the info is there anyway.. ), Great boke too...

Guys, I think you want to forget paint and powder coat for these and look at a proper galvanised finish, its probably about as impact, abrasive and corrosion resistant as your likely to get, and is bound to be easier and cheaper to manufacture galvanised mild steel plates than stainless.

One of the lads in the 4x4 response had his off road series 2 landy chassis and bash plates galvanised and its took a real battering and its still looking good, I'm getting my rock sliders done as I can't be arsed painting them every year

I can price th stainless fronts, but as Ed has brought up, my plan was for a full set of guards right through if possible, some would be beyond my mans capability ( his words ), he can deffo do steel and is very confortable with doing anything ( within reason) in 4 mm

Griegboy, If we galvanised them they would be boring grey, yuck.

Lez,

Trying to bend 4mm stainless is going to take some work and will be heavier than normal steel.

That will be the decider in the cost, price for the stainless in the first place and the added cost of the bending.......... got initial feed back of aroun £125 for the front plate also much heavier than the steel so postage will be dearer too..
Lime green powder coat.....black stripe down the centre.. look like you've driven over a Fiesta..

Yep it will be more expensive.

As for bending it, anything we used to work in over 3mm stainless was cut and welded.

Just too much money for the heavy duty equipment to do the job.
