Swap indicator and wiper stalks

#1 by techno , Tue Nov 12, 2013 3:56 pm

Hello! First post so please be gentle with me!

I have a 2005 L200 Warrior which I bought just over a year ago. I love it, it's not used all the time, mainly a weekend toy and picking kids up covered in sh*te from Rugby/football/camping etc!

The missus occasionally uses it when her car's out of action and my oldest son is now 17 and is desperate to get his hands on it.

There in lies the problem, the indicators are on the wrong side!!

I've got used to it and even though my other car has them on the 'right' side I don't have a problem. The missus does though and now my lad's learning to drive they are the opposite side to his instructor's Vauxhall and he's thinking too much about it which is putting him off a bit.

So, my stupid question is does anybody know if it would be possible to swap the indicators and windscreen wiper stalks over?

Thanks

@LezT will more than likely know, but on the face of it I would say not, horribly expensive for a seventeen year old to insure, is it not, or is he a named driver, like ours?

I used to drive busses... Funny how when your used to everything being in different places on each different type of vehicle you become so used to it.... Yet I would still pull up in bus stops to load passengers in my car??? Wired how the mind works!!

Be interesting to see how you get on with this mod?

Oh and welcome to the madhouse!!

I know! I'm used to it now, one swipe of the wipers on the first turn and it's reset in my head

He's named on it at the moment. It's still my truck, I bought it well before he was old enough to drive. I offered to get him a small car but he loves the L200 it suits his outdoor pursuits and of course he'll be ready for the Zombie Apocalypse .

So we'll have to stomach the insurance but to be honest, it's more than a small car but any insurance for 17 year olds these days is obscene.

My kids buy insurance by the month, when they need the car - £120 for a month. Thats on a clio and an old punto. They seem to have no probs with indicators, maybe they dont use 'em. lol
