From the alternator all cables seem sound but I am going to run a few tests i.e. insulated and ground side tests shortly hopefully this will help to pin point any loose or corroded connections then it will be a matter of method of elimination.

OK after a couple of days rest from the Truck, I have decided time to get back on the case, I have noticed a slight improvement on the charge system since replacing the regulator and bushes. The battery is not discharging completely as was the case before, TAKE NOTE THIS IS DAY TIME USE WITHOUT ANY MAJOR LOAD BEING USED. I can happily drive to the shops, round to family etc and the charge steadies at just above 12v and the truck will start without any boost. if I have to use lights, windows, etc then the voltage drops and I have to use booster to get her started again. The Relay, and 80amp Battery fuse have been mentioned to me as possible suspects.

If the relay or Battery fuse are at fault would this cause my problem, i know I have stripped the alternator down and put a new regulator and bushes in, and if the fault was with the relay or battery fuse all the time, then yes I will kick myself but only lightly because I feel the removal and strip down of the alternator was worth the effort due to the fact it was a valuable experience.

OK here is the next question on the relay then, according to one thing I read the alternator RELAY is located near the mud flap in wheel well, is that true would some dumb nut vehicle manufacturer really put a relay there?

I have finally traced the fault which was a wire leading from Fuse/Relay box that had been chaffing, that has now been replaced and I am now looking for a 80 amp Battery fuse which will then put everything back in full working order, I have looked on Ebay but there are so many different sellers with wide difference in price I want to know I am buying the right one, any one point me to a seller that I can be sure I get the right one?

thanks in advance
