I have a 2000 plate 2.5TD L200. On re-wiring the stereo to the front doors I noticed daylight through the front arch where the accelerator pedal is bolted. As I am not too mechanically minded, can the inner wing be replaced or is it a welding job? Either way I think it will be going to the garage for mending :-(

It'll neeed welding either way mate.... a good garage will be able to plate it over and make it sound again... outer wings are bolt on so getting to it will not be a drama, worth joining up as there may well be someone in your area that is already known and can be recommended, costs nothing to join so what have you to lose, but you could have a big saving on the repair..

Krutly would be your area rep mate, he's in ( a place in north devon that I can't remember the name of) even though I've been there... not got any welders I know of that way, but a few members who may be able to point you to a good known repairer..

I'm down here in Barnstaple. We have a few meets now and then (last one was at the Blackbrook Tavern just off the M5 at Taunton)
One or two people not far from you that may be able to recommend a garage.
on the other hand, your daylight you can see may even be a missing grommet as there is one either side on the bulkhead I believe

Hiya bud. It's definitely rot as the pedal moves at an angle when the hand throttle is pulled. It's practically just the rectangle shape of the bracket that has rusted through. I've managed to book it in to bridgwater coachworks this week so hopefully it won't be too painful on the wallet. I only bought it recently and cannot believe I missed the offending area when I inspected it. Ah well :-)
