Paint Spraying Equipment

#1 by active_85 , Sun Jan 08, 2012 10:44 pm

Well, I have held off from this for a while now but what the hell.
I import HVLP paint spraying equipment from the USA and sell through distributors in the UK but I can always give advise and information on how to prepare, base coat, top coat and clear coat your truck or other items.
If you want to buy your own kit or you are a sprayer, dent and scratch repairer or just have/want your own kit. PM me, advice and information is always free, products will cost considerably more lol.
Then again, if you have tried and done it wrong I can usually rescue it

First names Nigel, so PM me with your question, I sometimes hold event days, training days or even open days where you can see/try the equipment and visit a local distributor.

(advice on flip paints, gel coats, holographic's, reflective's, glitter coats, metallics and others all 2K and single packs)

Actually HVLP stands for High Volume Low Pressure, it is the best alternative to using conventional sprayer with a compressor.
A compressor gives a fluctuating delivery of air, it pressurises a tank then starts to deplete the air until it reaches a set level when the compressor kicks back it. Compressors give dirty air which needs to be filtered and cleaned, it has moisture and oil in there which is bad for spraying.
HVLP works by forcing a large volume of air down a big bore air hose at low pressure and the gun does the atomising in a different way to conventional systems with a special air cap to propel the paint. The air is warmed by the turbine so it is moisture free and helps the paint flow as well as cure. Because there is a constant flow of air available the volume and pressure never changes so it is far more consistent. the transfer efficiency is more than 80% so less paint is used and less over spray so the whole job is cleaner too.

Just looking at doing a candy coat on flip paint for the truck at the moment, need to see what cost for this years MOT before I spend a few hundred quid on paint though
