2010 onward manual gearbox oil level

I've looked in the how too "new shape", the specifications, the manuals (exploded inturnal diagram) looked for the topic (automatic mentioned).

Basically Looking to check maybe change the gearbox oil, is it a remove plug from the side and fill to over flow level? I need to have a look want to check it next week, service not due till next year and I think the gears feel less smooth and it's not the clutch.

What is the correct type and quantity? is there a good trusted brand.
I don't mind paying a bit extra for silky smooth action and buying genuine but not taking it too the main dealer before next service unless I have a problem, too much on at work during the day.

I did read it's SAE GL3 75-80w up to 2010?? but I am being told it's GL5 and different grade at a local shop (I don't like to use shop own generic no name brands and I know some gearboxes and diffs can be sensitive)
