Would it have a fuel pressure sensor on it , and thus lending to Nicks ( and Lez's ) suggestion the fuel pressure is dropping, and maybe the sensor is faulty?

I didn't get time to have a look today .... Is there a fuel pressure sensor ? or is there a way to test the fuel pressure ?

OK ...found time so far i have checked the timing and it is spot on, i did find a couple of jubilee clips on the fuel pipes so i changed them for pukka fuel clips, i have put a new fuel filter on......AND .......it is still the same ! Doesn't like to start and the revs drop when i press the accelerator before catching up and revving freely. How hard should the plunger be ? it does still go down slowwwly if i keep pressing but it is pretty hard should it be solid ? is there another pump IN the tank ? or does the fuel pump draw the fuel from the tank ?

I have no visible diesel leaks can air still get in ? and any other pointers or input that anyone can think of ?

cheers

Have you checked the stack pipes coming out the top of the fuel tank, yjey are bad for rusting through, there is also a small gause filter at the bottom of that pipe in the tank. you would need to drop the tank & remove the stack pipe to check & clean it. If you do this your just as well fitting a new stack £35.00 from milners

I have had a look and it all looks suprisingly good on top of the tank considering it has spent more of it's life off road than on but i will have another look in the morning. There isn't any diesel leaking from there but i suppose a tiny hole would be hard to spot.

No veg in my tank woody, it was on red for 18 month or so before i got it but 100% fully taxed diesel at the moment...

I decided to change all of the clips on the fuel lines and amazingly it seems to have cured the problem, so 1 of them must have been duff and sucking air in. I could tell as soon as i primed it as the diesel was coming out under much more pressure.

There was one moment when my old friend the EML came on ?! but i stopped the motor and restarted and it has not re appeared so don't know why it came on. I have driven around 40 mile today on and off road and all seems well..............until summit else fails.

When i said cured.......i should have said sort of cured........The motor starts fine now as the fuel is under much more pressure but when it had been standing for hours today, it started but then would not rev for about 1 minute ! Once it had ticked over for a bit and warmed up slightly then it would rev ??

What would cause this ? Do the heater plugs provide heat after start up ? as mine has been butchered and it has a push button. Has mine got a cold start fitted ? or do i need to look elsewhere
