Rear shock absorber pin

#1 by Major Malfunction , Sun Nov 16, 2014 8:26 am

I have read a few posts on lifting the back up and came across a few saying the top shock mount can sheer of when trying to undo the nut.
Is this a one off or common, I have a nut splitter and can just replace the nut, also can the old pin be taken out and replaced or does a new mount and pin need welding in.
Thanks guys.

Can you drill it out and replace it with a bolt?

If you just replace the springs and not shocks just undo the bottom of the shock if you have too, no need to undo top.
if you are worried about shock attachments don't undo them at all.....once the U bolts are undone (two on each side) front and rear spring bolt are out thats it.
As said if you are replacing shocks then try soaking in WD as chef said for a few days.

When I done my leafs LezT advised me to leave the shock attached to the bottom plate. Once the U bolts are off the bottom plate will swing out the way allowing for the leafs to be replaced.
