No thermostat on my truck

#1 by Carl_hendy827 , Sat Dec 06, 2014 8:27 pm

Hi,

Had a service on my truck today, and noticed the heather had stopped blowing hot so had the thermostat changed, well there wasn't a thermostat in there? Any ideas why this would be 2006 new shape 2.6 did. Had the thermostat put in and the heater blows a little hotter but not boiling? Ady ideas?

Cheers carl.

Truck would have taken ages to get to running temp' if it did at all, heater should be much better now, if it's not then you might be running an airlock which needs to be shifted, heater on hot,up on the screen, park facing uphill if poss ( so the radiator is at the highest point) and run for around 10 mins with the rad cap off, this should push any air out of the system..

Have had the truck about 6 months never had any troubles. But then again had no need to put the heaters on and yes did take a while for the temp gauge to move to half way! Will try the trick stated above tomorrow thanks guys!

I worked on a ford ka once that had the thermostat valve cut off. It had been through a botched head gasket replacement and I'm thinking it was done to mask the overheating.

That's why they do it, as it lowers the water pressure so the problem is masked.

Doesn't bode well for the love and attention the PO lavished upon it. It's usually a half arsed bodge for cooling system problems.

Thats because you have dodgy flaps mate, if ya have heat getting in then the only problem would be internal mechanism.... you dont have individual controls for driver and passenger like a Merc ot Toyota does do you..?

Built into the heater mate... not a fun job to get too either, try the flush first just in case..
