4D56 Front Crank Seal

#1 by EasyManHugo , Fri Jan 23, 2015 1:54 pm

Hi There

Anybody done a front Crank Seal. Have already had a go but it's still leaking. Don't have any special tools so positioned the seal squarly then put the pully on to force it home seemed to work at the time but is still leaking. Any ideas on how it can be done by the DIY mechanic.

Many Thanks

EMH

Hi bud was gonna post it tonight, ye beat me to it...
Don't think you where far off doing it first time, maybe it didn't go all the way and sit properly or nipped on way in the way you did it,(check seal bore for damage if you take it off again mate) hope this helps.

Daft question ,are you sure it's the front crank seal . I thought mine had gone and it turned out to be a seal on one of the balence shafts the oil was running down and pooling around crank seal

Not actually took it apart yet. Just seems to be pooling round the crank like you say. So will let you know as soon as the weather picks up.Thanks
