tyres on 65 plate barbarian

#1 by Paddywhack , Tue Nov 03, 2015 9:38 am

hello all

having had a moment of madness i traded in my 07 animal and bought a brand new 65 plate barb. Anyway although this topic appears done to death anyone have any experience of upgrading tyres on the series 5? does the usual upgrade to 265/70/17 on standard alloys still fit without catching? ideally looking at something abit more offroad biast as have the company car for motorway issues and this will be used more often for trips around the farm. looking at cooper sst however the road noise concerns me so would be willing to stretch to BF's if people think they are worth it.

cheers

Jon

Yes 265/70/17 will fit the new L200

A mate has also just got the new barbarian and ask to have the bigger tyres fitted, which Mitsubishi did for him he went for the new BF KO2
which is a nice looking tyre, as for noise i don't know

Just in case anyone searches this topic again, I have had the 265/70/17 fitted today and they fit without any rubbing as suggested, finally make the car look as it should of out the factory (as far as I'm concerned anyway) ended up fitting BfG all terrains in the end as they did a deal meaning there wasn't a great difference in price between that and the coopers.

they also seems to empty the fuel tank quite a bit quicker! although time will confirm that. interestingly the new size although 7% bigger than the previous wheels mean the speedo actually reads bang on when compared to a GPS unit.

road noise is a little increased, however you really have to turn off the radio and listen for it, so it really isn't an issue.

I will probably offset the increased fuel cost, just by not having to spin the tyres to get out a field.

Looks good, a decent set of All Terrains or Mud Terrains improve the look of a truck instantly.

Have BFG changed the A/T tread pattern? Looks like more tread on the side wall than the ones I used to have.

Sorry for the old thread revival, Any problems with the 265/70R17's on the standard alloys? I am looking at these for our newly acquired L200 2015 Series5 but thought I read somewhere that the offset of the wheel should be slightly different if using 265/70R17's on the Series5?

Thanks.

Ian.

Does that mean there are no issues running 265/75R17's on the standard series5 alloys or no one has done it (that is still active on here)?

I haven`t any issues with the large tyres except my concern if I get a flat tyre. I`ve still got the original spare so it is the smaller size. Also, if I change the spare to the 265/70/17 will it still fit under the truck as there doesn`t seem to be a lot of space there. I`ve been on grouse moors and picking up with it and I haven`t had issues. Bit of extra body roll but not worrying and no extra road noise.
