Will not rev above 4k

#1 by Tribal ( Guest ) , Fri Jan 08, 2016 7:36 pm

Hi forum, just waiting on my application to be approved, but already seeking advice.
As stated in title our 2007 4works has develoved a drop in performance and yet NO EML or faults codes.
In 3rd gear its even worse, struggling to rev to 3.7K and then dies and picks up again at 3.5k, so upshift is then required.
I have freed off the waste gate, as this caused a similar problem last year, although on that occassion we had EML, which subsequently cleared once waste gate was freed, and full power/performance was restored.
Idea's anyone.
Regards Rich

Don't get me wrong , but why are you trying to rev it so high?
3000Rpm is ample for these 2 ton trucks....

Could be fuel related, fuel filter? when was it last changed, or SCV may be on its way out

Thanks guys, I was starting to think fuel starvation myself.
To clarify we DON'T regulary rev it that high, but in a situation when we needed power, it was NOT there, so I did an experiment.
Last night it would not go passed 3.5k in 3rd and behaves like it dies when you hit that point, so to clarify it doesn't just stop revving, it dies back to a lower point then picks up again.
Is the fuel filter easily accessible as I have no idea when it was last changed unless its part of a service which was done in Nov.
Cheers Rich
