Impending doom!

#1 by dcoll , Sat Mar 26, 2016 4:25 pm

Hi guys-
Over the last week or so, it's felt as if something's either slipping or not quite engaging correctly. 06 plate warrior new shape. When revs climb, particularly in 2/3/4gear, it just doesn't quite feel right. My thoughts were either a slipping belt or pulley or maybe issue with diff/gearbox. Don't know if it's related, but yesterday, really struggled to get out of 4H to 2H. It went after a minute or 2 rocking back and forward with a big clunk.

All ideas would be appreciated

Yeh id say clutch, hand brake on and try pulling away, if its that far shot you should feel it slipping under load, let the clutch out slowly

Manual, 115k miles. I've had it for 4 years with no problems, about 35k since I got it. Now that I think about it, i first noticed it when I was towing my trailer- would the extra load make it worse? Any recommendations for someone to fix it for me? Wirral/liverpool area? Thanks in advance!

Yes the extra weight of the trailer will make it feel worse

Don't use it much, but the more I read, the more it sounds like the clutch! I live in Oxton, never changed the oils!

Follow-up. It was the clutch. When the old one was taken out, it was about the thickness of a fag paper!
Thanks for all the help!

Used Birkenhead engine centre- good price, a proper garage, obviously know their stuff. They then did belts for me too
