4wd issue

#1 by muddybiker , Mon Sep 19, 2016 10:55 pm

Hi,
Just got my 4life double cab,it's a 2000 mk3
The issue I have is its been extensively used by an old farmer chap for carrying his dogs around and has been offload a lot
It drives beautifully in 2wd but when you stop and change into 4h or 4l it will drive straight but doesn't like steering,i thought maybe the front different but any suggestions?
Many thanks

tough to turn in 4WD is absolutely normal , as cheffy says, keep 4WD for the slippery stuff and you'll be fine
use it on tarmac and turn a few corners and you'll hear a very expensive bang as the diff gives up
have a shufty on your door panel , there should be a sticker telling you when to use 4WD

No.

You haven't said if you are driving on or off road.
If you are using it off road on soft ground have you got a diff lock and if yes and it's switched on then cornering will be difficult. Diff lock is only for severe conditions when another drive wheel is required or for slippery hill decent or assent.
