Fuel leak

#1 by WeeTim , Thu Nov 03, 2016 7:40 pm

Hi I have a fuel leak around the filler neck. latelyI have had problems starting it and last Sunday it was purging then it conked out on a mini roundabout the leak is drippin onto the front mount of the leaf spring and dripping down. I am in the process of draining the tank and then going to drop it just wondering if anyone has had this before and know where leak if?? I have read before filler neck and return pipe are the common places

Sounds like it could be the stack pipes that go into the tank

Not on mine they weren't. It was the nuts you took off. Had to replace my tank recently, pin holes on the top of the tank and down one side.

That's what I meant, its the bolts that are captivated, sorry if I confused the issue, the nuts just undo as usual. If you are changing the pick up pipes be very careful when removing the ring of 8mm nuts as the captivated bolts will shear easily, I soaked mine with a good penetrating spray and wire brushed the tops, then worked the nuts backwards and forwards a little bit at a time repeating spray and wire brush as I went along.

OK tank removed and inspected and ends up being the field stack of which has a pin hole in feeder pipe close to were it comes through the plate. Which meansyou idea if cutting pipe shorter and attaching a longer fuel pipe on is out the window
